Velvet upholstery fabric is made up of 100% polyester and thus is quite durable. While, the “piles” on its surface still makes it extremely soft and warm. An interesting part of polyester velvet upholstery fabric is the direction that those fibers of the “pile” lie and the light is reflected differently depending on the direction of the fibers. This is the reason why silk velvet and polyester velvet upholstery fabric look lighter and darker when we run our hands across the surface and change the direction of the pile at the same time.
