More information about crepe silk
Crepe silk is created with crepe surface with slight wrinkles. It has soft luster, soft hand feel is comfortable to wear. Compared with silk charmeuse fabric, crepe silk is has better anti-wrinkle performance. This type of silk fabric is easy to recognize due to its uneven texture. In the meantime, it is a little visible and light.
There are some other types that are similar with crepe silk, such as silk double georgette and silk pebble georgette. As then name suggests, silk double georgette has same texture both sides, but its surface is evener and smoother than silk crepe de chine fabric. Additionally, silk double georgette is has better gloss than 100 silk crepe. Silk pebble georgette is stronger and thicker than silk crepe, thus not it is not so easy to see through.
Silk pebble georgette is mostly used for pants.
Usage of crepe silk
As one of the most common type of silk, it is suitable for shirts, skirts, full dresses and scarves etc.
Little tips about how to care silk fabric
1. When washing silk garments, it is not advisable to immerse the silk garments in cold water for too long, preferably 5 to 10 minutes. Neutral detergent can be used for washing.
It should be washed by hand gently and lightly. Please don’t rub or wring to prevent any fiber damage.
2. The washed silk clothes should be dry in the shade and should be avoidede to be exposed to sunlight. This method can prevent the strength and color fastness of the fiber from being affected.
3. Please put inside face of the silk clothes outside during drying in order to make the cloths feel softer and not easy to fade.
