What is silk CDC?
Silk CDC is short of silk crepe de chine, a kind of versatile silk fabric with standard plain weave. It is lightweight, strong, durable and drapes nicely. Silk CDC fabric is woven in highly twisted silk yarns thus it has specially beautiful “wrinkles” on its texture. It usually comes in 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, 18mm, 23mm, 30mm and 40mm. Heavy silk crepe fabrics in 23mm, 30mm and 40mm do a good job in wrinkle resistance. Silk CDC is an ideal choice for ordinary wear especially in summer seasons, such as full dresses, tops and blouses.
Why people like silk CDC and other silk fabrics? Some reasons are as below.
1. Anti-ultraviolet. Tryptophan and tyrosine in silk protein can absorb ultraviolet light, so silk has good resistance to ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet radiation is very harmful to human skin. Of course, when silk absorbs ultraviolet light, it undergoes chemical changes. Therefore, under the sun's irradiation, silk easily turns yellow.
2. Silk fabrics also have excellent dye performance, and can be dyed with acid, neutral, direct, active, cationic, reducing, soluble reducing, and insoluble azo dyes. However, silk is easily damaged in alkaline media, so acid dyes are generally the mainstay, supplemented by neutral, direct and reactive dyes.
