The heavier weighted of 100 silk habotai are mainly used for summer shirts, skirts, blouses and tops. The medium ones can be used as clothing linings and the light ones are mostly used as scarves, petticoats and headbands etc. In a summery, it is a high end silk fabric.
What is the difference between habotai silk fabric and silk crepe de chine fabric?
It is very easy to tell the difference between these two. They feel quite different when get them in hand. 100 silk habotai is a plain weave, which looks very flat and the surface is shiny. While silk crepe de chine is made up of twisted yarns, which have crepe effect. So, silk crepe looks a little wrinkled on its surface and it drapes well.
The regular weights of 100 silk habotai are 5mm,. 8mm, 10mm, 12mm and 15mm. While the weights of silk crepe fabric are 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, 18mm, 23mm, 30mm and 40mm. Due to different weights and features, these two kinds of fabrics are used in different projects.
