What is habotai silk
As one regular type of silk fabric, habotai silk was only invented at the beginning of the 20th century. It has the characteristics of dense texture, being light and thin, etc. It is suitable for making summer clothing, such as shirts, skirts, etc., and can also be used for the lining of high-end clothing and the fabric of silk umbrellas, wall papers and even fans.
Since habotai silk belongs to silk fabric category, it is in processes of the good points of silk fabric such as good moisture absorption and breathability etc. However, because it is a light and thin fabric at a low grammage, the natural drape is not as good as other silk fabrics.
Despite of its same thinness and lightness with silk chiffon fabric, habotai silk is not that transparent. That why it is frequently used as lining for dresses, tops and blouses.
In addition, habotai silk looks quite light, delicate and beautiful, but it is not that expensive as silk charmeuse fabric.
